Sector Development

Helping your business overcome growth barriers by dealing with issues specific to your sector.

The #GrowMySME – Business Growth Scheme has been developed to support Humber businesses to overcome their barriers to growth, and a large component of this is to work with SMEs to help identify, engage, and overcome barriers and issues that are posed by the specific sector that they are in.

Sector-specific issues and needs are often complex, with key variations in terms of skills needs, new product or process developments, changes to the legal or regulatory landscape, knowing when and where to look for new sales opportunities, and just generally scanning the horizon for forthcoming changes to – and from within – the sector. Indeed; the most successful businesses keep one step ahead of the competition by consistently scanning the horizon.

The Business Growth Scheme is therefore offering tailored support to businesses that sit within the Humber Local Enterprise Partnership’s priority and key enabling sectors – which can be seen below. Sitting alongside the core offer of the Business Growth Scheme (of one-to-one advisor support, workshops & masterclasses and grant funding), our Sector Development support will be developed and commissioned on a rolling, needs-led basis. The Business Growth Scheme is currently engaging with key sector and industry stakeholders as well as carrying out research into the specific support needs of each of the Humber’s priority and key enabling sectors.

It is envisaged at this stage that the support will consist of specialist workshops and events, conferences, digital resources, and the commissioning of specialist – externally delivered – tailored support programmes that are delivered exclusively for the sectors in question.
